Why I Like Hangar Empty Why I Like Hangar

Yeah, it's big. But that's not the reason why. It has so many different environments to fight in, and there are boxes, crates, and container modules everywhere. Parts of the map favor snipers, parts favor close combat, and parts favor movement.

Just last night, I demonstrated to five trando players just why Hangar is one of the prestige maps in RC.

I had been trying to kill a conc gunner, but he led me on a chase through the entire map. We ended up on the upper level, in the area with all the boxes and container modules. He had rounded up a couple of his little trando buddies to stage an ambush. One of them had snatched up the chain gun. So I was facing a conc, a chain gunner, and a repeater. What followed was a swirling battle among the crates. Every time the conc gunner targeted me, I hopped behind a crate. Same for the chain gunner. We circled and danced in an explosion of noise and gunfire. I took them, one, two, three. And to add the the perfect ending to the event, two of their little trando buddies came in right after I killed the third guy - and I killed them, too.

So that's why Hangar is on my short list of Best RC Maps Ever.

but the only setback is it's too big for an 8v8 which makes a match long. . . . but the map is fun when you get to a 22-man (and above) server. . .

and i agree with kirby, because it's big and complex, you have multiple routes to the flag which is a big thing especially if your holding the flag. . . .

I love Hangar, but now the big servers are all gone, and just like Mobius said, a 8v8 is kind of boring, mosty because if you find 2 guys, you just took down a chunk of the team, and to find another set you have to walk around a lot.

I suppose anything could be improved. So lop off one of the hangars. Move the tunnel around so it's underneath the hangar that's left, put entrances to it at the front and back. Leave both ramps on either side, and leave in the zero-g area at the front. If this enterprising map maker wanted to get fancy, he could add another level up above, making a four-level map (tunnel, main hangar, two upper areas). But leave in all the boxes, crates, and containers! Would that be intimate enough for you guys? Smile

I prefer Garden. It is a snipers paradise. Sniper Its either kill at long-range, or get killed at long-ranges. Twisted Evil

Garden's Ok. I'm biased, cuz I've been stuck in too many tie games there in ctf. Gah. Don't know who did the Day Garden mod map, but you ought to try that sometime. It's Garden, during the day, with the bridge down. Day Garden really is a sniper's paradise. The Timberlands mod map is also good for snipers.

I checked this morning on my filefront page. They were deleted. CURSE YOU FILEFRONT! So I fired up my desktop, which has archives of all the game maps I've collected, and uploaded daygarden and tinberlandxs. They're both dm maps. Here's the link to my page on filefront:

[Only admins are allowed to see this link]

I don't know who created them. They were in a gigantic map pack I downloaded over a year ago.

Most of the maps I had on filefront have been deleted. A few remain. If anyone wants me to, I'll upload more of my collection.
